Heath Primary School Safeguarding Statement of Intent

At Heath Primary School the safeguarding of all children entrusted to our care is of the highest priority. Please use the links to view our school policies and guidance for parents in relation to safeguarding issues. We will ensure all policies and procedures in respect of safeguarding children are up to date and in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education 2023.

Safeguarding Through the Curriculum

Safeguarding is at the heart of everything we do here at Heath Primary School. Great importance is placed on identifying opportunities in the taught curriculum for children to learn about safeguarding, ensuring that a wide range of topics are covered and children understand:

what healthy relationships look like: including families, friendships, respectful relationships online and in person, consent and being safe
how to look after their physical and mental wellbeing: including healthy eathing, the importance of exercise, physical health and fitness, sleep routines, basic first aid, changing bodies and the effects of drugs, alcohol and tobacco
how to stay safe online: including contact, commerce, conduct and content and what to do if you are worried

Our broad curriculum gives pupils opportunities to experience life in all its diversity, to acquire knowledge, understanding, and skills that significantly impact personal development, behaviour, and welfare, and equips every child with the knowledge and skills required for personal safeguarding.
