The Reception children will continue on their journey of learning from Nursery following the ‘Early Years Foundation’ stage. This is organised into 7 areas of learning – Communication and Language, Physical Development, Personal, Social and Emotional Development, Literacy, Numeracy, Understanding the World and Expressive Arts and Design.
We do lots of outdoor learning – all areas of learning are taught outside as well as inside. Please ensure children have warm clothing in wonter to enable them to still be able to play outside.
The learning journey is evidence of your child’s learning throughout their time with us. We will share these at several points throughout the year. The parent contribution section in these is really important, and it’s great to hear about your child’s achievements at home, this can be anything from a swimming certificate to saving their spending money to buy a toy. Please take a picture and send us an email to email@example.com so that we can share any of their special achievements with their class.
In Reception we bake every other week, this is something the children take a lot of enjoyment from. We try to bake a variety of sweet, savoury and healthy foods which sometimes the children bring home and sometimes will be eaten at school. To help us continue baking with the children we ask for a donation of £2.00 per term to cover the cost of ingredients. We would ask if this could be paid at the beginning of the term so we can budget the food allowance more accurately. Thank you.
Each week your child has the opportunity to bring home an extra book from our school library. Please ensure that these are returned every Friday so that they can be swapped.
